Technical Lead (London)

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Lead the Needs Analysis phase of a project creating fully documented functional and technical specifications
  • Converses with the technical project stake holders including the client’s team and third party vendors where appropriate.
  • Responsible for conducting, leading and coordinating software development activities throughout the project, including enforcing Pixl8 technical production standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for web development projects, including enterprise application projects.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of projects and ensure all technical information has been provided to the production team prior to the commencement of the project.
  • Support the production team as the technical project authority.
  • Lead the technical / development team through project development phases: analysis, development, implementation and deployment providing technical advice and support to the development team during all phases of the project.

Support the Project Manager to:

  • Plan and oversee the development and delivery of specific development projects
  • Identify the resource requirement to ensure the most suitable team members are assigned
  • Establish project goals and provide regular feedback to all project team members.
  • To ensure the project is delivered on time and budget.
  • Acts as a liaison for the technical team to the project leadership team and management.
  • Act as a senior developer where required to support the project resources
  • Attend project meetings and provide progress reports on the technical aspects of the project advising of any issues or concerns
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external customers.
  • Supervise staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Be familiar with systems concepts design and standards. Provide technical expertise in terms of system architecture, coding methods, functionality, performance, aesthetics, resilience, reuse and economic and technological tradeoffs.
  • Help shape the ongoing technical standards for the business.

Minimum Qualifications
A good degree in Computer science or similar field.

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven technical leadership experience.
  • Experience in staff management would be desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong and diverse technical skills in Web development preferably ColdFusion but excellent .NET, JAVA or php skills are also relevant.
  • Strong English reading and writing communication skills, with an ability to express and understand complex technical concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and has strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with clients and will to travel to project sites.
  • Possess good organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Ability to anticipate potential problems, determine and implement solutions.
  • Strong coaching skills.
  • Ability to step outside role confines and help teach and enable other team members.
