Job: ColdFusion Programmer - North Hertfordshire - £35k + Benefits
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Software Development Manager and working closely with a team of 2 other software developers.
JOB PURPOSE
The role of the programmer is to work with the team and to contribute to and support the work to deliver the I.T. strategy and the development of software solutions. The main solution identified, is Coldfusion which is MSSQL 2005/2008 based.
There is also a strong element of team working which is essential for the success of the role and you will be expected to work closely with other members of the team to fully support where necessary.
As well as the above the other priorities for this job role are supporting and enhancing existing internal systems, developing new systems and supporting and training users. The main duties are outlined under job accountabilities.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITES
• Contribute to the delivery of the I.T. strategy
• To work closely with the software development manager and other members of the team to design and programme specific client solutions
• To man the help desk dealing with support calls within given timescales and to escalate problems in line with procedures.
• To work closely with the software development manager and other members of the team to make recommendations to replace existing processes and systems and to enhance these using the Coldfusion software platform.
• To document all development work.
• Report on activities through the monthly team and one to one meetings
• Ensure that your software knowledge is continuously updated
• Work closely with other departments to ensure support and development work is meeting their needs.
• Ensure all systems are backed up in accordance with company procedures

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
• Minimum of 2 years experience and knowledge of Coldfusion MX7/8
• Javascript - desirable
• MSSQL - minimum of 1 years experience
• Xml - minimum of 1 years experience
• CSS – desirable
• Fusebox framework - desirable
• Good general standard of programming skills
• High level of problem solving skills
• Commercial awareness
• Ability to train other people
• Good interpersonal understanding skills
• Good listening skills
• Good English literacy and numeracy
• Must have the ability to multi task and deal with several projects at the same time
PERSONAL QUALITIES REQUIRED
• Able to build good working relationships with other people within the company
• To have the ability to recognise urgency and priority setting within the workplace.
• Be able to predict timescales with a fair degree of accuracy, particularly for the sales team as most of the work performed would be to client specifications and therefore chargeable to the client.
• Must be self motivated.
• Must be able to work to deadlines, and to keep calm under pressure.
• Must have the ability to demonstrate ownership and commitment to the role.
