Goodbye and Hello!
Goodbye!
After over 10 years of running the UKCFUG, and with a heavy heart, that I announce I am standing down as Manager of the UK ColdFusion User Group.
I've really enjoyed running the UKCFUG and the opportunity to meet so many great people. It's been a great journey and I wanted to thank everyone who has been apart of it - our members, our speakers and especially the user group and community teams at Allaire/Macromedia/Adobe who support the user groups with speakers and giveaways! I have many fond memories from over the years which I'm sure will stay with me forever.
We have had some excellent meetings (and parties) over the last 10 years with at times incredible turn outs - the latest being the meeting we had with Ben Forta at the end of April at the Sway Bar. With a new manager I am looking forward to some fresh air being blown into the UKCFUG and a chance to give it a new lease of life.
Now, you may ask, who is taking over as new manager? Well, you will be glad to hear I have passed over the reins to someone who has been a solid member of the ColdFusion community in the UK for a very long time. I am very pleased to announce that I have passed the reins over to Kev McCabe who you will all know from his dedication to the ColdFusion community and his involvement in Scotch on the Rocks.
I want to wish Kev all the best with his new role as manager of the UKCFUG and I'll enjoy (for once) sitting in the audience! ;-) See you all at the next meeting!
All the best
Niklas Richardson
Hello!
An era is over, and what an era. As Niklas has said there has been 3 changes of ownership of ColdFusion in this time, and Niklas has stood solid for the UK ColdFusion community in this time and given us a great show on many occassions. So it is with great pride that I take the reins of this great group over and I hope to continue the great work Niklas has put in.
So over the next few weeks I hope to formulate a new plan of action and have our In Real Life meetings activated again with some great speakers from the community. I know there are so many people from the group itself that want to speak; or need that little nudge in the right direction and we're here to help you guys get the recognition you all deserve in the community.
So here's to another 10 years of the UKCFUG (with I bet most of it under a UK Conservative Government) and if you have any ideas on how the group can be improved, other then assassinating me, let us know. :)
Kev McCabe

Well done Nik for the last 10 years. Though not being able to make it up as often as I would like they've always been worth the trip! Also well done Kev on the new role! If you want ideas (except for plans of assassination) you can I add pizza, beer, vodka and some kind of whisky/bourbon to the mix and on tap :) Also why not use something like uservoice.com to start putting ideas out there?

Congrats on your 10 years of effort at the helm Niklas, I've only attended a handful of UKCFUG meetings but they've always been good fun. And congrats to Kev, I hope you can get things swinging with regular meetings again soon!kola wrote on 11/26/09 6:48 PM
